The St. Louis Cardinals yesterday placed newly-acquired super-utlity guy Mark DeRosa on the DL, retroactive to July 1st, due to ongoing wrist issues. The team’s medical staff now believes that DeRosa may be suffering from a torn tendon sheath, the same injury that sidelined slugger David Ortiz last season and sapped his power.
There are few clearer signs that Mark DeRosa was meant to have been traded to the Mets in stead of the Cardinals:
- has remained hitless since being traded
- tried playing through an injury the Cards’ medical staff deemed was “day-to-day”
- ended up on the DL anyway with an indefinite timeframe for returning
- will be incapable of hitting home runs once back in line-up
