Let Murphy have a bench role now and replace Catalonotto. The Cat is hitting .143. Murphy has a pinch hitter was hitting over 300 13 out of 40 with 2 Hrs , 1 triple,Double in 12 RBIs .Let him play fall and winter ball at second base for 2011.Let Cora woork with him in off time ,he had 15 games at 2nd in 2008 Arizona and only needs to get footwork and playing time. He may even be able to play there later in the season.

    Hey Jerry, what’s the story?

We certainly agree that the Cat has gone to the Dogs as well as the GMJ and the Tatis. The Murph is certainly a better hitter than any of that group by far, We also feel that the Murph could help the Mets as the pinch hitter for the team and certainly could replace the Cat at this point. The problem is that the Castillo has the contract for the 2011 season and the Omar couldn’t come up with the trade to get rid of the Castillo so that’s a lot of the Money to throw away.

Of course now with the Ike (who we like) at 1B, the Murph is left positionless and needs to start over. So a few weeks at the Buffalo for the Murph might be what the Doctor ordered. See if he gets hot with the bat and then we’ll have to see about what he can do with the Glove. The Cora might help the Murph if he’s a nice guy, but he might want to add a little to the Cora retirement fund next year, so he might not be that helpful.
